This master diploma thesis deals with the type of character from Norwegian folktales known as Askeladden. The thesis has two parts: theoretical and practical. The first part explains the term of folktale and gives an overview of crucial terms of the genre. Témou predloženej diplomovej práce je typ postavy z nórskych ľudových rozprávok, ktorý vystupuje pod menom Askeladden. Práca je rozdelená na teoretickú a praktickú časť. Teoretická časť pracuje s pojmom rozprávka a vysvetľuje niekoľko základných a kľúčových pojmov tohto žánru. Taktiež v nej predstavujem schému V. J.
