Diploma thesis Contribution of a drummer in a jazz trio consisting of guitar, saxophone and drums deals with the drummer’s different approaches to playing in a non-traditional trio line-up. In five chapters, it analyses jazz trios with focus on drummers like Jeff Ballard, Kenny Wollesen, Peter Erskine, John Hollenbeck and Paul Motian.
