Education of seniors in the personal hygiene self-sufficiency support in residential service facilities

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na edukaci seniorů v oblasti osobní hygieny s využitím jejich zvyků a se zachováním jejich soběstačnosti v pobytové službě. Cílem bakalářské práce je zmapovat stav, problémy a výzvy v oblasti osobní hygieny klientů vybraného domova pro seniory a vymezení odborné terminologie. Předložená bakalářská práce je rozdělena na dvě části, část teoretickou a část praktickou. Teoretická část práce vymezuje základní pojmy, věnuje se edukaci seniorů a jejich specifikaci. Dále je zaměřena na důstojnost života, funkční stav a soběstačnost u seniorů, využití kompenzačních pomůcek a osobní hygienu u klientů. Praktická část bakalářské práce obsahuje případovou studii domova pro seniory, která popisuje edukační procesy v konkrétních situacích, zejména v oblasti hygieny rukou. Výsledná zjištění mohou být využita managmentem toho konkrétního zařízení nebo v jiných zařízeních podobného typu.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused on the education of the elderly in the field of personal hygiene using their habits and preserving their self-sufficiency in the residential service. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to map the status, problems and challenges in the field of personal hygiene of clients of a selected home for the elderly and to define the professional terminology. The presented bachelor thesis is divided into two parts, a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the basic concepts, focuses on the education of the elderly and their specifications. It also focuses on dignity of life, functional status and self-sufficiency in seniors, the use of compensatory aids and personal hygiene in clients. The practical part of the bachelor thesis contains a case study of a home for the elderly, which describes educational processes in specific situations, especially in the area of hand hygiene. The resulting findings can be used by the management of that particular facility or in other facilities of a similar type.
