The Influence of Catastrophes on Insurance Markets

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na problematiku pojištění v případě katastrofické události a na to, jaký je vliv katastrofických událostí na pojistné trhy. Cílem diplomové práce je z pohledu pojistného trhu zhodnotit používání různých modelů pro řešení katastrofických událostí, k nimž došlo ve světě, včetně návrhu doporučení pro zlepšení systému řešení přírodních katastrof v České republice. V textu je analyzováno celkem deset katastrof, k nimž došlo v období 2005 až 2014. Jedná se o katastrofy, které byly v jednotlivých letech nejzásadnější a měly největší dopad buď z hlediska počtu usmrcených osob, anebo z hlediska pojištěné škody. Katastrofické události jsou analyzovány z hlediska toho, jak velká škoda byla pojistným trhem pokryta a jaký model byl pro pokrytí využit. Na základě této analýzy jsou zjištěny údaje o to, jak se od sebe jednotlivé modely liší. V rámci těchto zjištění jsou pak údaje o modelech adaptovány na podmínky České republiky a je určeno, jak by mohly v českých podmínkách konkrétně fungovat a jaká by mohla být jejich specifika.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis is focusing in the catastrophes insurance and on the influence of the catastrophes on the insurance market. The goal of the thesis is to evaluate – from the insurance market point of view – the usage of different models for resolution of the catastrophes that took place in the world; the part of the thesis is also a possibility of adapting the resolution systems on the conditions of the Czech Republic. The thesis analyzes from 2005 to 2014. These are catastrophes that were most serious and had the largest effect in the terms of dead persons or the insured loss. Catastrophes are analyzed by the insured loss and the model that was used for the dealing with the catastrophe. The analysis shows the differences between used models. The data about models are adapted for the conditions in the Czech Republic and it is determined how these model can work in the Czech environment with its specifications.
