Dutch Second Homes Owners in Broumov Region

Abstract:

Práce zkoumá environmentální souvislosti chalupaření Nizozemců na Broumovsku. Zaměřuje se na důvody, které Nizozemce vedly k (částečnému) odchodu z Nizozemí a příchodu do českého pohraničí, a jejich životní způsob, když jsou v České republice. V první části jsou popsány teoretické rámce práce, tedy změna životního způsobu na příkladu Holandských doktorů (W. Aarts) a Pestrých a zelených (H. Librová), obavy z dopadů změn klimatu, idealizace venkova a turismus. Jádrem druhé části práce je interpretace šesti rozhovorů s respondenty z řad Nizozemců, kteří vlastní dům – chalupu v intravilánu obcí na Broumovsku a kteří tento dům užívají k rekreaci. Práce ukázala, že hlavní motivace Nizozemců je útěk před stresem a vysoce urbanizovaným prostředím v Nizozemí do klidného venkovského prostředí v českém pohraničí. Role obav z dopadů změn klimatu (záplavy) nebyla potvrzena. Při pobytu v České republice se respondenti chovají s respektem k místním tradicím a přírodě. Nápadná je snaha o podporu lokální ekonomiky. Zajímavé je srovnání této skupiny s majiteli nebo nájemci chatek v tzv. holandských vesničkách, jejichž motivace a chování se výrazně odlišují.

Abstract:

The thesis inspects environmental issues connected to the Dutch ownership of second-homes in the Broumov region. It targets the reasons that lead the Dutch to the (partial) departure from the Netherlands and arrival to the Czech boarder areas and their life style when in the Czech Republic. The theoretical frames are described in the first part of the thesis – the changes in life style described on the example of the Dutch doctors (W. Aarts) and the Colourful and green (H. Librová), concerns about the effects of climate change, rural idyll and tourism. Interpretation of six interviews with the Dutch who own their second-home in the villages in the Broumov region and use them for recreational purposes is the core of the second part of the thesis. The motivation of the Dutch are mainly escape from stress and densely urbanized environment in the Netherlands and peaceful environment in the Czech boarder areas. Role of concerns about the effects of climate change (flooding) was not confirmed. When in the Czech Republic, the respondents show respect to local culture and natural heritage. Efforts to support local economy are remarkable. Comparison of this group and owners or renters of bungalows in so called Dutch villages whose motivations and life style is very different is also interesting.
