Population migration in the towns of Karviná district

Abstract:

Procesy, jež nastaly po roce 1989, měly významný vliv na politický, ekonomický a sociální vývoj České republiky. Transformace a restrukturalizace české ekonomiky měla zásadní dopad zejména na rozvoj ve starých průmyslových regionech, které byly až příliš vázané na jeden či více tradičních sektorů průmyslu. Přechod k tržnímu systému vedl k útlumu méně konkurenceschopných odvětví a tím i k následnému nárůstu nezaměstnanosti. Ačkoli příchod zahraničních investorů napomohl oživit ekonomiku v takto postižených regionech, obyvatelé i přesto tyto oblasti opouštějí. Práce se zabývala migračním chováním obyvatel měst okresu Karviná v letech 1991-2017 a jejím cílem bylo podchytit obecné trendy v prostorové dynamice zvoleného území a projekci počtu obyvatel těchto měst do roku 2030. Data použitá v této práci pochází z databází Českého statistického úřadu, Ministerstva práce a sociálních věcí a Městské obecní statistiky.

Abstract:

Processes that have taken place since 1989 have had a significant effect on the political, economic and social development of the Czech Republic. The transformation and restructuring of the Czech economy had an essential impact on the development of old industrial regions, which was too much bind to one or more traditional sectors of industry. The transition to the market system has led to the dwindling of less competitive sectors and consequently the subsequent increase in unemployment. Although the arrival of foreign investors helped revitalize the economy in the affected regions, the inhabitants still leave these areas. The work dealt with the migration behavior of the inhabitants of the towns of Karvina district in 1991-2017, and its aim of this thesis was to capture the general trends in the spatial dynamics of the selected territory and the projection of the population of these towns by 2030. The data used in this work comes from the databases of the Czech Statistical Office and the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs Things and Municipal Town Statistics.
