Translation of associations. Kathrin Röggla’s short stories „Irres Wetter“ and their Czech version

Abstract:

The Austrian writer Kathrin Röggla wrote a collection of short stories named "Irres Wetter" (2000), which was well received by critics. This thesis considers the possibilities of its translation into Czech and examines the role of the translator, which forms a new dialogue between the reader and original author. The theoretical-practical section discusses the short stories in terms of text linguistics and deals with translation of associations and principles of cultural translation. The practical section is devoted to the translation of the short stories "seitenstreifen", "with 36" and "yorckkino".

Abstract:

Rakouská spisovatelka Kathrin Röggla napsala soubor povídek s názvem „Irres Wetter“ (2000), který byl na poli kritiky velmi dobře přijat. Práce uvažuje o možnostech jeho překladu do češtiny a zkoumá roli překladatele, který vytváří nový dialog mezi čtenářem a autorem originálu. Teoreticko-praktická část rozebírá povídky z hlediska textové lingvistiky a zabývá se překladem asociací a zásadami kulturního překladu. Praktická část se věnuje překladu povídek „seitenstreifen“, „so 36“ a „yorckkino“.
