Francis of Assisi and the history of the Franciscan order

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na seznámení s osobností sv. Františka, s jeho názory a představami o řeholním životě a zároveň i se způsobem, jak tyto své myšlenky realizoval v praxi. Práce se dále zabývá vznikem a vývojem františkánského řádu a zásadními událostmi, které se podílely na jeho formování v období Františkova života, ale i po jeho smrti. Cílem práce je srovnání Františkových představ o řeholním životě s jejich naplňováním v nově vzniklém řádu a jeho odnožích. Práce se věnuje i běžnému řádovému životu menších bratří a jeho organizační struktuře.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on getting acquainted with the personality of St. Francis, with his views and ideas about monastic life and at the same time with the way these thoughts were implemented in practice. The thesis also deals with the origin and development of the Franciscan Order and the major events that contributed to its formation during the life of Francis, but also after his death. The aim of the thesis is to compare Francis's ideas about monastic life with their realization in the newly created order and its offshoots. The thesis also deals with the day-to-day life of the Friars Minor and the organizational structure of the order.
