The Mechanical and Thermal Properties of PLA Biocomposites Containing Biochar

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá rozborem problematiky biopolymeru kyseliny polymléčné (PLA) obsahující biouhel. Zkoumán je vliv biouhlu na mechanické a tepelné vlastnosti biokompozitu vzhledem k velikosti částic plniva, ale také technologický vliv přípravy vzorků z hlediska technologie vstřikování do studené (40 °C) a vyhřívané (100 °C) formy. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části, teoretickou a experimentální část. Teoretická část je zaměřena zejména na oblast aplikovatelných přísad a jejich vlivu na mechanické a tepelné vlastnosti kyseliny polymléčné (PLA). Dále se zabývá problematikou biouhlu, jeho struktury, vlastností, procesu výroby a také biouhelných kompozitů. V experimentální části jsou hodnoceny mechanické a tepelné vlastnosti biokompozitu kyseliny polymléčné modifikované biouhlem v závislosti na hmotnostním obsahu biouhlu, velikosti částic a vlivu technologických parametrů přípravy zkušebních vzorků. Vzhledem ke známému limitujícímu faktoru kyseliny polymléčné (PLA), nízké teplotní odolnosti a křehkosti byla použita také kombinace kyseliny polymléčné s modifikátorem houževnatosti.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the analysis of the problem of polylactic acid (PLA) biopolymer containing biochar. The influence of biochar on the mechanical and thermal properties of the biocomposite with respect to the filler particle size is investigated as well as the technological influence of sample preparation in terms of cold (40 °C) and heated (100 °C) injection moulding technology. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and experimental. The theoretical part is mainly focused on the area of applicable additives and their influence on the mechanical and thermal properties of polylactic acid (PLA). It also deals with the issues of biochar, its structure, properties, production process and also biochar composites. In the experimental part, the mechanical and thermal properties of biochar modified polylactic acid biocomposite are evaluated as a function of biochar mass content, particle size and the effect technological parameters of test sample preparation. Due to the known limiting factor of polylactic acid (PLA), low temperature resistence and brittleness, a combination of polylactic acid with impact modificator was also used.
