Partnership after overcoming infidelity

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je porozumět fenoménu nevěry a prozkoumat, jaký má dopad na společné soužití osob, které tuto krizi překonaly, a jak svoji zkušenost vnímají a hodnotí s odstupem času. Vzhledem k charakteru cíle práce byl zvolen kvalitativní design výzkumu. Výzkumný vzorek byl zvolen záměrně a sběr dat byl uskutečněn pomocí semistrukturovaných rozhovorů. Data byla analyzována pomocí interpretativní fenomenologické analýzy. Výsledky analýzy ukazují, že respondenti s odstupem času vnímají zkušenost nevěry ve vztahu jako impuls, který po překonání vedl k „renesanci vztahu“. To znamená vývojový posun v pozitivním směru, protože nevěra zvědomila obou partnerům ty aspekty vztahu, které byly nefunkční a s kterými se následně zabývali. Hlavní změny po překonání nevěry jsou popsány ve čtyřech hlavních tématech a těmi jsou sebereflexe, otevřená komunikace, společné fungování a transformace.

Abstract:

The purpose of this diploma thesis is to understand the phenomenon of infidelity and what impact it has on the coexistence of people who have overcome this crisis and how they perceive and evaluate their experience over time. Due to the nature of the aim of the work, a qualitative research design was chosen. The research sample was chosen deliberately, data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews. Data were analyzed by Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis. The results show that respondents perceive the experience of infidelity in a relationship as an impulse that, after overcoming it, led to a "relationship renaissance". This means a developmental shift in a positive direction, because infidelity informed both partners of those aspects of the relationship that were dysfunctional and which they subsequently dealt with. The main changes after overcoming infidelity are described in four main themes: self-reflection, open communication, cohabitation and transformation.
