Integrating point selection methods and principal component analysis to the A.D.A.P.T. project

Abstract:

Projekt A.D.A.P.T. vedený Ústavem antropologie Přírodovědecké fakulty se věnuje sběru populačních dat o tělesné stavbě české populace. Jelikož nebyl dostupný software, který by splnil veškeré požadavky na zpracování těchto dat, vznikla spolupráce s Fakultou informatiky. Výsledkem je webová aplikace umožňující načíst naskenovaný model člověka v interaktivním 3D editoru a provádět na něm různé typy měření. Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje vývoji pluginu do webové části aplikace. Plugin je ve formě nástroje sloužícího k výběru libovolné podmnožiny vrcholů trojúhelníkové sítě načteného modelu. Vybírat je možné jednotlivé vrcholy nebo skupiny vrcholů pomocí obdélníku, kruhu nebo lasa. Výběr je možné modifikovat na pouze viditelné vrcholy nebo vrcholy přilehlé ke kameře. K dispozici je i inverzní režim sloužící k odebírání vybraných vrcholů. Nad výběrem je pak možné provést analýzu hlavních komponent. Součástí práce bylo i vylepšení kamerového systému editoru a popsání vizuálního řešení aktivního výběru.

Abstract:

The A.D.A.P.T. project led by the Institute of Anthropology of the Faculty of Science is dedicated to the collection of population´s data on the body structure of the Czech population. Since there was no software available that would meet all the requirements for processing these data, a cooperation with the Faculty of Informatics was established. The result is a web application that allows us to load a scanned human body model in an interactive 3D editor and perform various types of measurements on it. This bachelor thesis is dedicated to the development of a plugin for the web part of the application. The plugin is in the form of a tool used to select an arbitrary subset of vertices of the triangular mesh of the loaded model. It is possible to select individual vertices or groups of vertices using a rectangle, circle or lasso. It is possible to modify the selection to only visible vertices or vertices adjacent to the camera. An inverse mode is also available for selecting selected vertices. It is possible to perform principal component analysis over the selection. The thesis also includes improving the camera system of the editor and describing the visual design of the active selection.
