Health problems of lambs in pasture rearing of sheep

Abstract:

V mojí práci s názvem „Zdravotní problematika jehňat v pastevním chovu ovcí“ jsem se zamě-řila na nejčastější onemocnění postihující novorozená jehňata. Také zde popisuji původ a cha-rakteristiku plemene Texel a Zwartbles, které se na sledované farmě chovají, chovatelské zása-dy při reprodukci, ontogenetický vývoj plodu, faktory, které ovlivňují březost a nejčastější problémy, které se v průběhu březosti mohou objevit. V hlavní části jsou popsána jednotlivá onemocnění, která mohou postihnout novorozená mláďata, jejich průběh, léčba i prevence. Na konci mé práce je také praktická část, která byla provedena na rodinné farmě, ve které se za-bývám zkoumáním počtů a možných důvodů úmrtí jehňat. Mým pozorováním jsem zjistila, že uhynulo dohromady 5 jehňat z celkem 26 narozených. Dvě z nich byla již mrtvá při porodu, dvě uhynula z důvodu nedostatku mléka u své matky a jedno jehně uhynulo z důvodu výhře-zu střeva, který se objevil, již při porodu. Procentuálně tedy do doby odstavu uhynulo 19,2 % a odstaveno bylo 80,08 % jehňat.

Abstract:

In my bachelor thesis entitled "Health problems of lambs in pasture-raised sheep" I focused on the most common diseases affecting newborn lambs. I also describe the origins and character-istics of the Texel and Zwartbles breeds that are reared on the farm, the breeding principles of reproduction, the ontogenetic development of the foetus, the factors that influence pregnancy and the most common pro-problems that can occur during pregnancy. The main part describes the different diseases that can affect newborn pups, their course, treatment and prevention. There is also a practical section at the end of my thesis, which was carried out on a family farm, in which I investigate the numbers and possible reasons for lamb deaths. Through my observations I found that 5 lambs died out of a total of 26 born. Two of them were already dead at birth, two died due to lack of milk from their mother and one lamb died due to a pro-truding gut, which had already appeared at birth. Thus, 19.2% of lambs died and 80.08% were weaned.
