Causes of premature death in Czech population

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje hodnocení zdravotní zátěže české populace pomocí výpočtu ztracených let života z důvodu předčasného úmrtí (Years of Life Lost, YLL). Tento ukazatel poskytuje širší pohled na zdravotní zátěž populace než samotný údaj o počtu zemřelých. Jedná se o odhad počtu roků potenciálního života, které osoba ztratila z důvodu předčasného úmrtí, s ohledem na věk při úmrtí a příčinu úmrtí. Pro samotný výpočet YLL byla použita metodika dle Global Burden of Disease studie (GBD). Cílem práce bylo zhodnotit roční objem a časový vývoj YLL pro českou populaci v období 1994–2018. Analýza byla provedena na datech z Informačního systému List o prohlídce zemřelého (LPZ). Teoretická část práce zahrnuje základní informace o datech LPZ, Mezinárodní klasifikaci nemocí (MKN), úmrtnostních tabulkách a metodice výpočtu YLL. V praktické části je použita metodika GBD studie na upravených datech dle platné legislativy. Výsledky jsou interpretovány dle pohlaví, věku, příčin úmrtí a krajů České republiky.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the evaluation of the health burden of the Czech population by calculating the Years of Life Lost due to premature death (YLL). This indicator provides a broader view of the health burden of the population than the number of deaths. It is an estimate of years of potential life that a person has lost due to premature death, considering the age of death and the cause of death. The methodology according to the Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) was used for the YLL calculation. The aim of the work was to evaluate the annual number and time trends of YLL for the Czech population in the period 1994–2018. The analysis was performed on data from Information System Deaths. The theoretical part of the thesis includes introductory knowledge about Information System Deaths, International Classification of Dieases, mortality tables and methodology of YLL. In the practical part, the methodology of the GBD study was applied on the data modified according to the valid legislation. The results are presented by sex, age, cause of death and regions of the Czech Republic.
