Virtual Environment for Diving

Abstract:

This thesis describes various virtual reality devices. More specifically it's focused on combining the Oculus Rift or the HTC Vive headset with the Kinect device. For that reason, I have developed scuba diving simulation application to be able to test the limits of such combination of different devices. The application was consequently tested by the users, which helped to discover both weak and strong areas of used technologies. The thesis shows that the combination of aforementioned devices is perspective however it still requires improvement in both detection and visualization areas.

Abstract:

Táto práca popisuje rozličné zariadenia pre virtuálnu realitu. Zameriava sa na kombinácie headsetov Oculus Rift a HTC Vive so zariadením Kinect. Pre testovanie možností týchto zariadení som vytvorila aplikáciu pre simuláciu podmorského potápania. Tá bola podrobená používateľskému testovaniu, ktoré pomohlo odhaliť silné i slabé stránky použitých technológií. Výsledok ukázal, že zariadenia a ich kombinácie sú perspektívne, avšak vyžadujú vylepšenia v oblasti snímania a zobrazovania.
