Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá vznikem prvních národních parků v kontextu kultury Spojených států amerických. Hlavním cílem práce je odpověď na otázky jak a proč došlo k vytvoření prvních národních parků. Z toho důvodu práce postupně analyzuje kulturní souvislosti, ze kterých vzešla myšlenka národního parku, a dává je do souvislosti s vytvořením prvních národních parků v Americe. Práce tak ukazuje, že první národní parky byly výsledkem dlouhodobého kulturního vývoje. Samotný koncept národního parku se postupně vyvíjel a nevznikl jako přesně určitelná historická událost.

Abstract:

This thesis analyses the establishment of the first national parks in the context of the cultural attitudes in the United States. Its main objective is to provide answers to how and why were the first national parks created. In order to do so the thesis analyzes the cultural context from which the national park idea arose and puts it together with the actual establishment of the first national parks in America. The thesis shows that the first national parks were a result of long-term cultural developments and did not come into existence as a ready-made concept.
