Stone duality

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce poskytuje úvod do Stoneovy duality. Nejdříve dokážeme Stoneovu větu o reprezentaci, s jejíž pomocí vybudujeme dualitu mezi kategorii Booleových algeber a kategorii Stoneových prostorů. Následně získanou dualitu rozšíříme na kate- gorii omezených distributivních svazů a kategorii spektrálních prostorů. Teoretické konstrukce jsou doprovázeny konkrétnimi příklady. Vztahy mezi zmíněnými kategoriemi jsou využity k řešení problému spojeného s rozšířením omezeného distributivního svazu na Booleovou algebru. Na konci práce se podíváme na vztah mezi kategorii spektrálních prostorů a kategorii prostorů Priestleyové.

Abstract:

This thesis provides an introduction to Stone duality. First we prove Stone Representation Theorem with the help of which we establish a duality between the category of Boolean algebras and the category of Stone spaces. Subsequently we extend the obtained duality to the category of bounded distributive lattices and the category of coherent spaces. Theoretical constructions are accompanied with some concrete examples. Relations between mentioned categories are used for a solution of the problem related to the extension of a bounded distributive lattice to a Boolean algebra. At the end of the thesis we explore the connection between the category of coherent spaces and the category of Priestley spaces.
