Methods of time measurements up to 10ps resolution

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá možností měření časových intervalů s velmi vysokým rozlišením až do řádu desítek pikosekund. V úvodu je zmíněn náhled do problematiky měření frekvence a časového intervalu. Další část práce popisuje přehled metod měření časového intervalu. Dále je krátký přehled dostupných zařízení pro měření časových intervalů, tzv. Time-to-Digital Convertors (TDC). Pro tato zařízení je zpracován přehled jejich možností a použitých metod k získání daného rozlišení s odkazem na přehled metod v předchozí kapitole. Závěrem je zmíněno možné využití TDC zařízení a shrnutí možností měření časových intervalů.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on a time measurement with high resolution up to picoseconds. A theory of measurement of frequency and time is mentioned at the beginning. In the next part, several methods of the time measurement are described. The following part is a short overview of commercially available devices for the time measurement, Time-to-Digital Convertors (TDC). It consists of an overview of TDC devices and methods used for reaching high resolution with a respect to methods described before. Possible applications of TDC devices and a summary of the time measurement are mentioned at the end of the bachelor thesis.
