Čestmír Kožušník's Contribution to the Czech economic thinking (in the context of discussion about the plan and the market)

Abstract:

Dizertační práce je zaměřena na oblast českého ekonomického myšlení a jeho hospodářsko-politických souvislostí. Cílem je odpovědět na otázku: Jaký byl vývoj ekonomického myšlení Čestmíra Kožušníka a jak se tento ekonom zapojil do diskuze o vztahu plánu a trhu, která vyústila ve formulaci principů Šikovy reformy? Pro naplnění tohoto cíle je nejprve vymezeno dobové teoretické a hospodářsko-politické prostředí. Dále je provedena analýza Kožušníkových vybraných prací z doby reálného socialismu, následně i z potransformačního období. Na základě této analýzy je v Závěru navržen způsob zasazení Kožušníkovy práce do vývoje českého ekonomického myšlení a podle stanovených kritérií zhodnocen jeho přínos.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on the Czech economic thinking and its economic and political context. The aim is to answer the question: What was the evolution of Čestmír Kožušník’s economic thinking and how did this economist join the debate about the relationship between the plan and the market, which resulted in the formulation of Šik’s reform principles? To achieve this goal, firstly, the theoretical contemporary economic and political environment is defined. Furthermore, Kožušník´s selected works are analysed from the period of real socialism and also from the transition period. Finally, on the basis of this analysis, the way of insertion of Kožušník´s work into the development of Czech economic thinking is suggested and his contribution is evaluated according to established criteria.
