The Implementation of the Intercultural Communicative Approach in the Foreign Languages Education in the Czech Republic through the European Educational Programme "eTwinning"

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou výuky cizích jazyků a jazykového vzdělávání v České republice na pozadí jazykové politiky Evropské unie. Hlavní pozornost je věnována definování interkulturního komunikativního přístupu ve výuce cizího jazyka a jeho uplatnění v primárním a nižším sekundárním stupni vzdělávání České republiky, kde je tato výuka realizována prostřednictvím evropského vzdělávacího programu eTwinning. Teoretická část práce nejprve přináší pohled na vývoj cizojazyčné výuky zejména v Evropě, v jehož rámci představuje interkulturní komunikativní přístup M. Byrama a jeho model interkulturní komunikativní kompetence. Poté následuje seznámení s jazykovou politikou Evropské unie, na jehož základech je nastíněn přístup České republiky k jazykovému vzdělávání a cizojazyčné výuce. Empirická část práce se věnuje kvalitativní formě výzkumného šetření, jehož cílem je zjištění, zda je uplatňován interkulturní komunikativní přístup ve výuce cizích jazyků na primárním a nižším sekundárním stupni vzdělávání v České republice, která je realizována prostřednictvím evropského vzdělávacího programu eTwinning.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the foreign languages education in the Czech Republic on the background of the Language Policy of the European Union. The focus of the thesis is on the characterization of the intercultural communicative approach in the foreign languages education and its implementation in the primary and lower secondary level of education of the Czech Republic where the language education is realized by the European Educational Programme “eTwinning”. The theoretical part of the thesis brings firstly the view of the development of the foreign languages education mainly within the Europe; secondly it introduces the intercultural communicative approach of M. Byram and his model of Intercultural Communicative Competence. Furthermore, the work informs about the attitudes of the Czech Republic to foreign languages education on the background of the brief description of the Language Policy of the European Union. The empirical part of the thesis is based on the qualitative research which deals with the question whether the intercultural communicative approach is implemented in the foreign language education in the primary and lowers secondary school of the Czech Republic which is realized by the European Educational Programme "eTwinning".
