The effect of nutrition stress on manganese and zinc content in miscanthus biomass

Abstract:

V této diplomové práci byly vyhodnocovány naměřené výsledky obsahu manganu a zinku v biomase Miscanthus x giganteus po aplikaci živin (NPK, Mn, Zn a všech zmíněných živin najednou) do chudé písčité půdy a následně dány do souvislosti s naměřenými hodnotami fluorescence chlorofylu a reflektance listových barviv jako indikátorů rostlinného stresu před aplikací a po ní. Bylo zjištěno, že se mangan akumuluje více do listů a zinek do stonků. Z naměřených dat v této práci lze potvrdit, že nutriční stres měl negativní vliv na produkci biomasy, nižší obsah chlorofylu a zároveň díky němu došlo ke zvýšené akumulaci manganu a zinku do biomasy oproti rostlinám, které rostou v půdách bohatých na živiny. Přídavek živin ovlivnil některé z měřených fyziologických indexů (Fv/Fm, Fo, Fm, NDVI), neměl ale očekávaný vliv na akumulaci prvků do biomasy oproti kontrole, což mohlo být způsobeno nevhodně navrženou metodikou dávkování nebo dostatečnou zásobou živin v oddencích.

Abstract:

In this diploma thesis, measured results of manganese and zinc content in biomass of Miscanthus x giganteus are evaluated after nutrients application (NPK, Mn, Zn and all mentioned nutrients at once) to poor sandy soils and are related to the measured values of chlorophyll fluorescence and leaf pigments reflectance as plant stress indicators before and after application. It is observed that manganese accumulates predominantly in leaves while zinc accumulates in stems. Based on data evaluation, it can be concluded that nutritional stress has negative effect on biomass production, lower chlorophyll content and at the same time has negative effect on accumulation efficiency of manganese and zinc in biomass compared to plants that grow in nutrient-rich soils. The nutrients application affected some physiological indices (Fv/Fm, Fo, Fm, NDVI) but it did not have expected effect on elements accumulation to the biomass compared to the control, which could be due to inadequately designed methodology of application or sufficient nutrient supply in rhizomes.
