Changes in the composition of the aqueous phase, depending on the ratio of bentonite-water

Abstract:

Cílem práce je zjistit, jak poměr bentonitu a vody ovlivňuje výsledné chemické složení interagující vody, která by mohla zpětně ovlivnit bentonit, jež je pro svoje unikátní spojení fyzikálních a chemických vlastností uvažován coby geotechnická bariera úložišť radioaktivních odpadů. Model interakce byl vytvořen v laboratorních podmínkách užitím dvojfázového modelu pomocí bentonitu B75 z ložiska Stará rokle a jeho rozpuštěním v deionizované vodě bez kontaktu s atmosférou. Při interakci byly měřeny hodnoty pH, Eh, elektrické vodivosti a teploty. Následně byla provedena sada chemických analýz zaměřujících se na chemické složení vodné fáze a interagujícího bentonitu. Získaná data byla zpracována v programu Microsoft Office a The Geochemist´s Wokrbench, na jejich základě bylo vyhodnoceno, jestli poměr bentonitu a vody ovlivňuje chemické složení vody.

Abstract:

The goal of this study was to determine how the ratio of bentonite and water affects the final chemical composition of interacting water that could in return affect the bentonite. Bentonites, thanks to its unique combination of physical and chemical properties, considered to be a geotechnical barrier of radioactive waste repositories. The interaction model was set up in laboratory conditions by using a two-phase processing bentonite B75, originating from Stara Rokle depository, and by dissolving it in deionized water in the absence of air. During the interaction the values of pH, Eh, electrical conductivity, and temperature were measured followed by a set of chemical analysis focusing on the chemical composition of the aqueous phase and the interacting bentonite. Gathered data were processed in Microsoft Office and The Geochemist´s Wokrbench based on these results I evaluated whether the relative ratio of bentonite and water affects the chemical composition of water.
