The cost of embedding the PRINCE2 Project Management Method in a medium-sized enterprise in Russia

Abstract:

Primárním cílem této práce bylo otestovat hypotézu, že metoda řízení projektu PRINCE2 může být začlenena do středně velkého podniku v Rusku; vložení je pro organizaci dostupné a představuje dobrou investici. K tomuto kvalitativnímu empirickému výzkumu přistupujeme jako k případové studii ve spolupráci s LLC „TIS“. LLC „TIS“ je středně velký fungující podnik v Rusku.

Abstract:

The primary goal of this thesis is to test the hypothesis that the PRINCE2 project management method can be embedded into a medium-sized enterprise in Russia; the embedment is affordable for the organisation and represents a good investment. This qualitative, empirical research is approached as a case study in cooperation with LLC “TIS”. LLC “TIS” is a medium-sized functioning enterprise in Russia. The enterprise mainly specialises in producing a wide range of car seats for commercial transport, buses and unique and construction equipment. Limitations regarding human and financial resources, cultural challenges and potential resistance to change should be considered while creating a project management embedment solution for the company. The theoretical part of the thesis is dedicated to the overview of the project management evolution, primarily standards and delivery methods. A substantial portion of the chapter is devoted to theoretical aspects of PRINCE2 methodology and possible tailoring to organisational cultures in the context of Russian national culture. The next part, research methodology, reveals how the research is organised, methods of data collection and analysis. The practical component provides specifics of the company's industry, the company’s background, financials, corporate culture, and project management environment. The author offers the embedment solution of PRINCE2 methodology and determines its approximate cost, benefits and disbenefits. As a result, a medium-sized Russian enterprise can afford a PRINCE2 embedment; an appropriately tailored method may bring vast benefits to the company’s delivery of projects.
