Corporate Social Reporting within Companies in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Diplomová práce pojednává o reportování o společenské odpovědnosti u podniků v České republice. První část práce popisuje společenskou odpovědnost firem, význam, podstatu, přínos podniku, ale také možnosti reportování. Reportování je hlavním bodem práce, kdy jsou představeny standardy, přičemž největší pozornost je věnována metodice GRI, konkrétně aktuální G4. Na základě tabulky Czech TOP 100 jsou vybrány čtyři firmy – Agrofert, Škoda Auto, Unipetrol, Veolia. Ve druhé části práce jsou podrobně rozebrány reporty těchto firem a srovnány se standardy GRI G4, což je hlavní záměr práce. Bude upozorněno na nedostatky reportů a také na smysl a zaměření reportování jednotlivých firem.

Abstract:

The central topic of this final thesis is the social responsibility reporting and the practice of Czech companies in this field. The aim of the first part of the thesis is to describe corporate social responsibility, the importance, essence, and benefits of a business and also reporting options. The reporting itself is, in general, the main topic of this thesis and its standards are introduced throughout the text. The greatest attention is dedicated to GRI methods, and particularly to the current G4. Based on the table Czech TOP 100, four companies are selected for the purposes of the case study – Agrofert, Škoda Auto, Unipetrol, and Veolia. Reports of these firms are analyzed in the practical part of the thesis and they are compared with the standards of GRI G4. And this final comparison is the main purpose of this diploma thesis. In the final part of the thesis itself we will also point out the lack of reports and additionally we will also bring our attention to the meaning and focus of reporting strategies of individual companies.
