Syntactical analysis of the youth language in the Italian chats

Abstract:

My diploma thesis is a survey of the syntax of youth language in Italian chat. In our corpus we have examined different types of phrases and clauses, conjunctions, punctuation and word order that young persons are using in the chat and also the mistakes they are making. This type of communication is very similar to spoken language. In general the language of the chat has a tendency to simple forms and everything possible is abbreviated or omitted. As in spoken language marked word order is used a lot. The more frequent mistake is the substitution of stressed pronouns for those unstressed.

Abstract:

Questa tesi e' un sondaggio nella sintassi del linguaggio giovanile nella chat italiana. Nel nostro corpus abbiamo esaminato diversi tipi di frase, congiunzioni, punteggiatura e ordine delle parole che i giovani usano nelle chat e anche gli errori che commettono. Questo tipo di comunicazione assomiglia molto al linguaggio parlato. In generale il linguaggio delle chat tende alle forme semplici e si abbrevia oppure si omette tutto il possibile. Come nel parlato, anche in questa forma di comunicazione, si usa molto l'ordine delle parole marcato. L'errore piu' massiccio e' lo scambio dei pronomi tonici per quelli atoni.
