Abstract:
The bachelor´s thesis deals with the issue of American expansionism in the 19th century that originated in religious, economic and political theories. The thesis also includes translation of the essay, in which the phrase "Manifest Destiny" was mentioned for the first time, and which refers to a certain predestination given by God. Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou amerického expansionismu v 19. století, který nachází své kořeny v náboženských, ekonomických i politických teoriích. Součástí práce je také překlad eseje, jež poprvé zmiňuje frázi "Manifest Destiny", čili tzv. předurčení osudem.
