Barriers to the circular economy in the fashion industry (from the consumer’s perspective)

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá módním průmyslem a možnými řešeními jeho současného neudržitelného fungování. Pozornost je v práci věnována principům cirkulární ekonomiky, které mohou negativní dopady fast fashion omezit či redukovat. Cílem práce je identifikovat bariéry ze strany spotřebitele, které brání rozvoji cirkulární ekonomiky v módě v České republice. K dosažení cíle bylo využito dotazování spotřebitelů prostřednictvím dotazníku a skrze hloubkové rozhovory. Závěrem jsou uvedena doporučení pro firmy podnikající v této oblasti za účelem překonání identifikovaných bariér.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with fashion industry and possible solutions to its current unsustainable functioning. The focus is on the principles of circular economy that can reduce or eliminate the negative impacts of fast fashion. The aim of the thesis is to identify barriers from the consumer’s perspective that hinder the development of circular economy in fashion industry in the Czech Republic. To achieve the objective of the thesis, consumer survey was used along with in-depth interviews. Finally, recommendations to companies operating in this area are given in order to overcome the identified barriers.
