Technical Analysis of Stocks at the Prague Stock Exchange

Abstract:

Cílem práce je otestování úspěšnosti technické analýzy akcií na Burze cenných papírů Praha z pozice investora, který by dle jejích metod investoval do nákupu primárních titulů, konkrétně Erste Group Bank, ČEZ a Komerční banka. Pro potřeby práce byly zvoleny čtyři indikátory, z toho tři cenové a jeden objemový. Použité cenové indikátory jsou index relativní síly, stochastický oscilátor a MACD. Za indikátor objemový byla zvolena bilance objemu. Podle těchto indikátorů aplikovaných v letech 2013 až 2018 jsou určeny signály nákupu nebo prodeje. Následně je zhodnocena úspěšnost investora, který by se řídil právě těmito signály po celé období. Práci je možné využít právě při rozhodování, zda se řídit těmito konkrétními metodami technické analýzy při investování do cenných papírů na Pražské burze. Zároveň může sloužit jako studijní materiál pro výuku problematiky investicí dle metod technické analýzy vzhledem k vybraným indikátorům, které se řadí mezi méně složité.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to test the success of the technical analysis of stocks on the Prague Stock Exchange from the position of the investor who would invest in stocks quoted on Prime market, namely Erste Group Bank, ČEZ and Komerční banka. For the thesis, four indicators were selected, three of which were price indicators and one volume indicator. Used price indicators are the relative strength index, stochastic oscillator and MACD. On-balance volume was selected for the volume indicator. Depending on the indicators applied between 2013 and 2018, "buy" or "sell" signals are determined. Subsequently, the success of the investor, which would follow these signals throughout the period, is evaluated. This thesis can be used in deciding whether to follow these specific methods of technical analysis when investing in securities on the Prague Stock Exchange. At the same time, it can serve as a study material for the teaching of investment issues according to the methods of technical analysis with selected indicators, which rank among less complex ones.
