The view of the Munich Pact in the Czechoslovak and French press

Abstract:

Presented bachelor thesis analyzes the way in which the Czech and French prewar journalists created the image of The Munich Agreement in different dailies in the clearly defined period from 23rd September to 5th October 1938. The goal of this thesis is to compare the different tools and means the journalists were using for presenting The Munich Agreement in contemporary dailies of different political orientation and analyzing a wide variety of factors that could, in any way, influence the readers. The thesis focuses on six prewar dailies. The Czech press is represented by “Lidové noviny”, “Venkov” and “Právo lidu”. The French press is represented by “Le Figaro”, “L’Humanité“ and „Le Temps“.

Abstract:

Práce analyzuje způsob, jakým tehdejší novináři vytvářeli v různých denících obraz Mnichovské dohody v jasně definovaném období, od 23. září do 5. října 1938. Úkolem práce bude srovnání tohoto postoje tak, jak jej analyzovali novináři v českých a francouzských dobových novinách různých politických tendencí, a zkoumání různých faktorů, které mohly jakkoli ovlivnit čtenáře. Pro analýzu českých novin jsem zvolila „Lidové noviny“, „Venkov“ a „Právo lidu“. Z francouzských deníků to budou následující: „Le Figaro“, „L’Humanité“ a „Le Temps“.
