Unofficial Information Channels between Czechoslovakia and the West in period 1969 - 1989 focused on so-called Courier Way

Abstract:

Diplomová práce zkoumá, jaké neoficiální informační kanály fungovaly mezi Československem a Západem v období normalizace, tedy v letech 1969 – 1989. Zaměřuje se především na tzv. kurýrní cestu přenosu informací, kterou jsme si v práci definovali jako převážení informací (tedy konkrétně nosičů informací) přes hranice jakýmkoliv způsobem (tzn. autem, autobusem, vlakem, letecky, pěšky atd.). V práci zkoumáme tři nejvýznamnější a organizačně nejpropracovanější informační kanály, zejména jejich strukturu. To jest, kdo byl zapojen na jedné straně a kdo byl jeho protějšek, jakým způsobem spolu tyto dvě strany komunikovaly, jakým způsobem kurýři převáželi zásilky přes hranice a co přesně převáželi.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is examining unofficial information channels between czechoslovakia and the west in period of so-called normalization, i.e. 1969 – 1989 with focus on courier way of information transfer. This was defined in the thesis as transferring of information (in fact transporting of information mediums) across the border in whatever way (i.e. by car, by bus, by train, by plane, by foot etc.). We have focused on three most significant and best organized information channels. Especially we have focused on the structure of these channels, i.e. who was involved on one side and who was his counterpart on the other side, how both sides communicated to each other, how the couriers transported the deliveries accross the border and what was the exact content of the deliveries.
