Cognitive functions of football players in various positions

Abstract:

Fotbal je kolektivní míčová hra a celosvětový fenomén považován za nejpopulárnější sport na celém světě. Díky jeho jednoduchosti je možné jej hrát téměř kdekoliv, kdykoliv a s čímkoliv. Na profesionální i amatérské úrovni se fotbal stále vyvíjí, posouvá dopředu a je stále dynamičtější. Na hráče už nejsou kladeny pouze nároky dopravit míč do soupeřovy branky a zabránit soupeři, aby vstřelil on gól tak, jak tomu bylo před desítkami lety, kdy se fotbal teprve vyvíjel a tvaroval do současné podoby. Na hráče je kladena mnohem větší zátěž fyzická i psychická. Každý hráč, ať už je to střední obránce, krajní záložník nebo útočník, musí být schopen rychle zpracovávat podněty z vnějšího prostředí, co nejrychleji učinit správné rozhodnutí a provést akci v přesném okamžiku. Výkon hráče tedy zahrnuje kombinaci motorických a kognitivních dovedností. Bohužel doposud jen velmi málo studií zkoumalo souvislost mezi různými posty hráčů a výkonem kognitivních funkcí, ačkoliv znalost těchto souvislostí může být obzvláště zajímavá jak pro trenéry a zástupce klubu tak i pro hráče, protože v mládežnickém období jednotliví hráči zkouší různé pozice, na které se později specializují.

Abstract:

Football is a collective ball game and a global phenomenon considered the most popular sport worldwide. Thanks to its simplicity, it can be played almost anywhere, anytime and with anything. At both the professional and amateur level, football is constantly evolving, moving forward and becoming more dynamic. The demands on players are no longer simply to get the ball into the opponent's goal and prevent the opponent from scoring, as was the case decades ago when football was still evolving and shaping into what it is today. There is a much greater physical and mental burden on the player. Every player, whether he is a central defender, an outside midfielder or a striker, must be able to process stimuli from the outside environment quickly, make the right decision as quickly as possible and execute the action at the precise moment. A player's performance therefore involves a combination of motor and cognitive skills. Unfortunately, to date, very few studies have investigated the relationship between different player positions and cognitive performance, although knowledge of these relationships may be of particular interest to coaches and club representatives as well as players, as individual players try out different positions during the youth period, which they later specialise in.
