The Meaning of the Apparatus of Capture: G. Deleuze and M. Foucault on the Interrelation of War and Society

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem mé práce bylo analyzovat a porovnat vybrané aspekty dvou vlivných sociálně-filozofických koncepcí týkajících se vztahu mezi společností a válkou. Práce je proto rozdělena do tří hlavních částí. První je úvodem do koncepce vztahu mezi válečným strojem a státním aparátem, jak jej prezentoval v knize Tisíc plošin filozof G. Deleuze a psychoanalytik F. Guattari. Druhá část nabízí seznámení s koncepcí M. Foucaulta, pojednávající o komplementárním vztahu politiky a války, tematizované v sérii přednášek na Coll?ge de France: Je třeba bránit společnost. Ve třetí části jsou porovnány. Vzhledem k omezenému rozsahu práce je tato práce otevřena pro další zpracování. Tato práce může být užitečná pro výzkum týkající se problematiky války, míru, dynamiky moci, mocenské asymetrie, kapitalismu nebo problematiky menšin.

Abstract:

The main focus of my thesis was to analyze and compare selected aspects of two influential socio-philosophical conceptions, concerning the relationship between society and war. The thesis is therefore divided into three main parts. The first part is as an introduction to the conception of interrelation between the war machine and the state apparatus as presented in A Thousand Plateaus by philosopher G. Deleuze and psychoanalyst F. Guattari. The second part offers acquaintance with the conception of M. Foucault dealing with the complementary relation of politics and war, thematized in the series of lectures at the College de France: Society Must Be Defended. In the third part they are compared. Due to the limited scope of work, this thesis is open for further elaboration. This thesis can be helpful for research concerning problematic of war, peace, power dynamics, power asymmetry, capitalism or problematic concerning minorities.
