Economic policies and economic moves in the first years of the Turkish Republic (1923-1950)

Abstract:

In this thesis, the economic policies of the Turkish republic between 1923 and 1950 will be examined. The year 1923, the beginning year of the period in which the thesis is the subject, coincides with the collapse of the 624-year-old Ottoman Empire and the founding of the Turkish Republic. In this context, the socio-economic infrastructure from the Ottoman period will also be mentioned. Different indicators such as foreign trade balances, GDP, banking data, developments in infrastructure and transportation, export and import rates have been examined and some conclusions have been reached by comparing some of them with each other. After the Ottoman period, it was seen that efforts were made for a great change and economic development in the Turkish Republic.
