Asexual evolution: causes and mechanisms of reproductive isolation, and the role of geographical and ecological factors in the speciation without sex

Abstract:

The thesis consists of Introduction (getting the reader acquainted with the main terms and problems of asexual evolution research, aims and tasks of the thesis and its model objects), and the main part (Summary of publications included in the thesis, Conclusions, References, Full texts of publications). Summary of publications consists of six chapters, each presenting a published or prepared for publication paper on a certain aspect of taxonomy, speciation, biogeography, ecology and evolution of the chosen model of asexual animals. Chapters 2.1-2.6 are dedicated to bdelloid rotifers, specifically to the evolution, taxonomy, biogeography, ecology of asexual rotifers, and their adaptation to the environment. Chapter 2.7 is dedicated to the asexual vertebrate models - gynogenetic European spined loaches (Cobitis taenia hybrid complex). In this Chapter, the role of hybridization between lineages at the different stages of speciation in producing asexual fish, and the contribution of asexuality to the postzygotic isolation of fish species, is discussed. The Conclusions summarize author's achievements, listing the most important and novel points of the conducted research. Cited literature sources in References include 80 items.

Abstract:

Práce se skládá z Úvodu (ve kterém čtenář seznámí se s hlavními pojmy a problémy výzkumu asexuální evoluce, s cíli a úkoly práce a jejími modelovými objekty), a hlavní části (přehledu publikací obsažených v diplomové práci, závěrů, použité literatury a plných textů publikací). Přehled publikací se skládá ze šesti kapitol, z nichž každá představuje publikovaný nebo připravený k publikační vědecký článek o určitém aspektu taxonomie, speciace, biogeografie, ekologie a evoluce zvoleného modelu asexuálních zvířat. Kapitoly 2.1-2.6 jsou věnovány bdeloidním vířníkům - konkrétně vývoji, taxonomii, biogeografii, ekologii asexuálních vířníků a jejich adaptaci na životní prostředí. Kapitola 2.7 je věnována modelům asexuálních obratlovců - gynogenetickým evropským sekavcům (Cobitis taenia hybrid complex). V této kapitole je diskutována úloha hybridizace mezi liniemi v různých stádiích speciace při produkci asexualných ryb, a příspěvek asexuality k postzygotické izolaci druhů ryb. V Závěrech jsou shrnuty úspěchy autora, uvádějící nejdůležitější a moderní body výzkumu. Seznam citovaných zdrojů literatury obsahuje 80 položek.
