The Bayeux Tapestry

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the Bayeux tapestry which probably originated in the 11th century. This tapestry is still said to hide some mysteries. A large number of scientists have been trying to clarify its origin and the circumstances under which it originated, thus it still serves as an interesting subject of research for artists and historians. The thesis describes the main figures of the tapestry, the history of needlework and the history of the tapestry itself, the Middle Ages and the city of Bayeux, where this interesting piece of art is stored nowadays.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje tapisérii z Bayeux, která pravděpodobně vznikla v 11. století. Tato tapisérie je dosud opředena tajemstvím. Její původ a okolnosti vzniku se snažilo objasnit již mnoho vědců, jejich názory se liší, a tak je téma práce především pro umělce a historiky stále námětem pro jejich bádání. V této práci jsou popsány hlavní postavy tapisérie, historie vyšívání i samotných tapisérií, středověk a město Bayeux, kde je v současné době toto zajímavé umělecké dílo uloženo.
