Image analysis of tram motor commutator sparking

Abstract:

Tato práce se věnuje analýze jiskření na komutátorech tramvajových motorů tramvají Dopravního podniku měst Liberce a Jablonce nad Nisou. Během zátěžových zkoušek po generální opravě motoru jsou digitální kamerou pořizovány snímky komutátoru motoru. Snímky jsou ukládány na pevný disk a následně zpracovávány offline. Program na jejich zpracování je psán v prostředí MATLAB. Je navrhován tak, aby mohl být implementován do již existujícího programu, který je v současnosti používán při zmiňovaných zkouškách motorů. Za pomoci balíčku funkcí Image Processing Toolbox program na pořízených snímcích vyhledává jiskry, zaznamenává jejich intenzitu a získaná data ukládá do souboru, případně zobrazuje do grafu.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on analysis of commutator sparking of motors used in trams in use by Urban public transport of Liberec. Digital pictures of motors' commutators are taken during the stress test the motors are put through after being repaired. The pictures are stored on a hard drive and are processed offline. The program, which is used for their processing, is written in MATLAB. It is designed to be implemented into an already exsting program which is now in use during the above-mentioned stress testing of the motors. Using the funcitons found in MATLAB's Image Processing Toolbox, the program finds instances of sparking in the pictures taken during the tests, evaluates their intensity, and saves the obtained data to a file and/or draws them into a graph.
