Slovakian political parties and European integration

Abstract:

Prace se zabyva postojem soucasnych parlamentnich stran na Slovensku (tedy SDKU, KDH, SMK, ANO, HZDS, SMER a KSS) k evropske integraci a Evropske unii. Tyto strany jsou postupne prirazeny k typologiim Taggarta a Szczerbiaka, Kopeckeho a Muddeho a na zaver Contiho a Verzichelliho. Na zaklade techto informaci jsou nasledne overeny hypotezy, ktere tvrdi, ze vyskyt euroskepticismu u politickych stran je ovlivnen pozici dane strany ve stranickem systemu (zda je strana mainstreamova ci periferalni); naproti tomu pozice dane strany na ose pravice-levice jeji postoj k evropske otazce neovlivnuje.

Abstract:

This paper deals with attitude of present parliamentary parties in Slovakia (which means SDKÚ, KDH, SMK, ANO, HZDS, SMER and KSS) to the european intergration and the European union. These parties are assigned to the typologies of Taggart and Szczerbiak, Kopocký and Mudde and finally Conti and Verzichelli. On this background, two hypothesis are checked: the first one: Euroscepticism seems to be related to parties positions in their party system (the mainstream-periphery party distinction); the second one: There is no relation between party euroscepticism and its left-right position.
