Bachmann's Malina und Malina by Jelinek: Comparative interpretation and analysis of the screen-play and the original novel

Abstract:

Aim of this work is comparison of two different version of one creation: novel Malina by Ingeborg Bachmann and script of same name by Elfriede Jelinek based on this novel. Work is not only oriented on content, formal and stuctural differences between both texts, it also studies background of their origin and relationship between both Austrian writers, in literal as well as private life. Analysis of text itself is based on bearing literary themes, mutual for Bachmann and Jelinek, main interpretative frames of both Malina works, and as well on their reception. Starting point of analysis is mainly characteristics of key characters. Jelinek’s interpretation is reviewed only marginally by genre perspective, aesthetic and poetological concept dominates.

Abstract:

Cieľom práce je porovnanie dvoch rôznych podôb jedného diela: románu Malina od Ingeborg Bachmann a rovnomenného scenára Elfriede Jelinek na základe tejto predlohy. Práca sa nezameriava len na samotné obsahové, formálne a štrukturálne rozdiely medzi oboma textami, skúma aj pozadie ich vzniku a príbuznosť oboch rakúskych autoriek, v literárnom i súkromnom živote. Analýza samotného textu sa opiera o nosné literárne témy, spoločné pre Bachmann aj Jelinek, hlavné interpretačné rámce oboch diel Malina, a teda i o ich recepciu. Východiskovým bodom analýzy je z veľkej časti charakteristika kľúčových postáv. Jelinekovej spracovanie je však z hľadiska žánru (scenár) posudzované okrajovo, prevažuje analýza z hľadiska estetiky a poetologického konceptu.
