The Profession of Manager in the Hotel Industry

Abstract:

Tématem bakalářské práce je profese manažera v hotelnictví. Teoretická část práce vychází ze studia odborné literatury na toto téma. Práce je rozdělena do čtyř hlavních kapitol, které se zabývají charakteristikou manažera, kompetence manažera, role manažera a jeho funkce v hotelu. Závěr teoretické části zaměřen na hotelový management, do kterého spadá organizační struktura managementu (liniová, funkcionální, divizní), top management, střední management a liniový management, kde jsou popsány pozice, které do určitého managementu patří. Praktická část zahrnuje průzkum s cílem identifikovat požadavky kladené na profesi manažera v oboru hotelnictví, včetně interpretace získaných dat. Závěr práce shrnuje získané informace a navrhuje možná doporučení pro manažery hotelů.

Abstract:

The theme of the bachelor thesis is based on the profession of a manager in the hotel industry. The theoretical part is based on professional literature which centers on the hotel management and the profession of a manager. The thesis is divided into four main chapters, such as manager's characteristics, the manager's competence, the role of the manager and his functions in the hotel. Conclusion of the theoretical part focuses on the hotel management, which includes the structure of different positions of management (liner, functional, divisional), top management, middle management and line management, where the positions that belong to a certain management are described. The practical part includes a survey in order to identify which requirements for the profession as a manager in the hotel industry are needed. Interpretation of the acquired data is also included in practical part. This survey was conducted in order to help in achieving my goals and providing the base for analysis of my hypothesis. The conclusion summarizes the information obtained throughout the whole work and suggests possible recommendations for hotel managers.
