Perceived educational barriers of Roma clients put on the activitation services for families with children

Abstract:

Anotace Diplomová práce je zaměřena na vnímání bariér ve vzdělávání dětí romských klientů sociálně aktivizační služby pro rodiny s dětmi (dále jen SAS), kteří žijí v sociálním vyloučení. Jejím hlavním cílem je zjistit, jak romští klienti této sociální služby vnímají bariéry ve vzdělávání svých dětí. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části. První část je teoretická, kde můžeme nalézt syntézu poznatků o sociálním vyloučení ve spojitosti s bariérami ve vzdělávání a sociální prací, která má napomáhat sociálnímu začlenění. Výzkum probíhal pomocí kvalitativní metody v podobě hloubkových a polostrukturovaných rozhovorů. Empirická část práce se zabývá tím, jak romští klienti SAS vnímají bariéry ve vzdělávání u svých dětí a zda se jim je daří odstraňovat za pomoci této sociální služby. Tato práce má napomoci proniknout hlouběji do problematiky bariér ve vzdělávání přímo u osob, které jsou jimi nejčastěji vystaveni.

Abstract:

Annotation This diploma thesis deals with the perception of barriers to education of the children of Roma clients of the social activation services for families with children (herein as SAS) that live in socially excluded areas. The main goal is to find out how the Roma clients that take advantage of this service view these barriers to education faced by their children. The work is split into two parts. First part is theoretical, where we can find the synthesis of knowledge regarding social exclusion in connection to barriers to education and social services that help with social inclusion. The research was conducted using qualitative method of partially structured interviews. The empirical part of the thesis deals with the topic of how the Roma clients of SAS percept the barriers to education faced by their children and whether are these barriers diminished by using this specific social service. The thesis aims to dig deeper into the issue of barriers to education faced by people that encounter them the most.
