The Formation of an independent state of Israel

Abstract:

Tématem práce je vznik samostatného státu Izrael mezi lety 1945-1948.Práce se nejdříve věnuje událostem od vzniku mandátního území Palestiny, nacházejícího se pod Britskou správou, seznamuje s dokumenty, které měly veliký dopad na situaci uvnitř státu, jakož i s nepokoji mezi Židy a Araby. Situace v Palestině se však v průběhu let vyhrocovala a po 2. světové válce se dostala do bodu, kdy byla prakticky neudržitelná.Řešením napjaté situace mělo být rozdělení mandátního území Palestiny na arabskou a židovskou část skrze tzv. Plán OSN na rozdělení Palestiny, jenž byla vydán 29. listopadu 1947 Valným shromážděním OSN, tedy organizací, která vznikla nově až po 2. světové válce. Židé s tímto plánem souhlasili, nicméně arabští představitelé ho rezolutně odmítli a den poté, co oficiálně vznikl stát Izrael na základě Deklarace nezávislosti Izraele, ratifikované 14. května 1948, vpadly na území nově ustanoveného státu armády jeho arabských sousedů. Stát Izrael tak okamžitě musel hájit svoje právo na existenci proti svým arabským sousedům. Jedná se o tzv. první arabsko-izraelskou válku, také známou jako válku za nezávislost. Za vítěze války je považován Izrael, jelikož dokázal i proti veliké přesile uhájit svoji nezávislost.

Abstract:

The topic of this work is the formation of the independent state of Israel between the years 1945-1948.The thesis first deals with the events from the creation of the mandate territory of Palestine, located under the British administration, introduces documents which had great impact upon the interstate affaits, as well as the riots between the Jews and Arabians. The situation in Palestine has escalated over the years and after the 2. World War, it reached a point when it was practically unsustainable.The solution of the strained situation was supposed to be the division of the territory of Palestine into a arabic a jewish part through so called UN Partition plan for Palestine, adopted on 29 November 1947 by the UN General Assembly, an organisation newly created following the 2. World War. The Jews agreed with the plan, however the arabic representatives resolutly refused it and a day later, after the official creation of the state Israel on the foundation of the Israeli Declaration of Independence, ratificated on 14 May 1948, the armies of their arabic neighbors invaded the territory of the newly established state. State Israel then had to immediately defend its existential right against their arabic neighbors. It is the so-called first Arab-Israeli war, also known as the Independence war. Israel is recognised as the victor of the conflict, because it managed to defend its independence against great superiority in numbers.
