Urbanization and the phenomenon of metropolitan areas as a part of grammar school education about urban settlements

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na výuku tématu urbanizace a metropolitních oblastí v hodinách zeměpisu na úrovni gymnaziálního vzdělávání. Cílem práce je poskytnout přehled o předpokládané i realizované implementaci tohoto tématu do výuky analýzou vzdělávacích programů, středoškolských učebnic i odborných pedagogických knih. K dosažení větší autenticity jsou součástí práce rozhovory s aktuálně působícími středoškolskými učiteli zeměpisu i přednášejícími na vysokých školách, kteří studenty učitelství připravují. Práce zahrnuje také teoretické ukotvení tématu v odborné literatuře sídelní geografie. Jádrem praktické části je podrobné zpracování pěti různorodých aktivit zabývajících se touto tématikou, jejichž posláním je prohlubování znalostí a rozvíjení klíčových kompetencí žáků na gymnáziích.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on teaching the topic of urbanization and metropolitan areas in geography lessons at the grammar school level. The aim of the thesis is to provide an overview of the assumed and realized implementation of this topic in education by analyzing curricula, high school textbooks and specialist pedagogical books. In order to achieve more authenticity, the thesis includes interviews with current high school geography teachers as well as university lecturers who prepare students of teaching. The thesis also includes a theoretical grounding of the topic in the literature of urban geography. The core of the practical part is a detailed elaboration of five different activities dealing with this topic, whose mission is to deepen the knowledge and develop key competences of students in grammar schools.
