Horse motive in Czech sculpture in the 21st century

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje tématu motivu koně v českém sochařství 21. století. Tento fenomén je v dějinách umění často využívaný, avšak v posledních letech jeho výskyt upadá. Cíl práce je zjistit, jakým způsobem nahlížejí čeští umělci na toto téma. Jako příklady jsou vybrány tři sochy s jezdeckou tématikou autorů Karla Nepraše, Petra Nováka a Jaroslava Róny. Konkrétně to je pomník Jaroslava Haška v Praze, pomník T. G. Masaryka v Lánech a plastika Odvaha v Brně. Tyto sochy jsou dále zkoumány z hlediska zasazení do veřejného prostoru, výtvarného řešení a ideového záměru.

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis deals with the theme of horse motive in Czech sculpture of the 21st century. This phenomenon is often used in the history of art, but in recent years its occurrence is declining. The aim of the work is to find out how Czech artists view this topic. Three sculptures with equestrian themes by Karel Nepraš, Petr Novák and Jaroslav Róna are selected as examples. Specifically, it is a monument to Jaroslav Hašek in Prague, a monument to T. G. Masaryk in Lány and a sculpture Odvaha in Brno. These sculptures are further examined in terms of sending to the public space, artistic processing and ideological intent.
