Upper limbs loading in artistic gymnastics: A case study

Abstract:

Tato práce řeší otázku, zda jsou přítomné rozdíly v kinetice zápěstí a lokte ve sportovní gymnastice. Subjektem výzkumu byla mladá sportovní gymnastka výkonnostní úrovně ve věku 11 let. Gymnastka provedla vždy 7 platných pokusů základní dovednosti (rondát) ve třech různých postaveních rukou ve fázi kontaktu s podložkou. Experimentální nastavení tvořily dvě silové plošiny (Kistler) a systém pro kinematickou analýzu (Qualisys). Analýza dat byla provedena systémem Visual 3D. Pro posouzení rozdílů středních hodnot byl použit Wilcoxonův test pro neparametrická data a index velikosti vlivu (Effect size). Byly zjištěny významné rozdíly mezi technikami, kdy v T postavení dochází ke snížení interního addukčního momentu síly v loketním kloubu a kompresní síly v zápěstí. T postavení tak představuje techniku rondátu, která snižuje zatížení těchto kloubů.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the question if there are present differences between the kinetics of the wrist and the kinetics of the elbow in artistic gymnastics. Subject of this research was a young artistic gymnast at the level of performance corresponding to the level of an 11- year-old. Each time, the gymnast executed 7 valid attempts of a basic skill (rondo) in 3 various hands positions in the phase of contact with an exercise mat. Experimental setting consisted of 2 force platforms (Kistler) and a system for kinematic analysis (Oualisys). Data analysis was conducted by the system Visual 3D. For the assessment of differences among the median values was used Wilcoxon test for nonparametric data and index of size of the influence (Effect size). Significant differences between the techniques were detected, when in T position the inner adductional moment of force in the elbow and compression force in the wrist are reduced. Therefore T position is a technique of rondo, which decreases the strain on these joints.
