The aim of this thesis is to translate an excerpt of La Place de l’étoile by Patrick Modiano and to comment on some specificities of the text which are challenging for the translator. Cílem této diplomové práce je přeložit úryvek z románu La Place de l’étoile od Patricka Modiana a okomentovat specifika textu, která představují překladatelské výzvy.
