Abstract:

Diplomová práce „Determinanty a jejich aplikace“ částečně navazuje na bakalářskou práci „Využití matic v různých oblastech matematiky“ a zabývá se praktickým využitím determinantů v různých oblastech matematiky. V úvodní kapitole se nachází základní pojmy spojené se základními algebraickými strukturami a operacemi, vektorovými prostory, maticemi a permutacemi. Druhá kapitola představuje pojem samotného determinantu a jeho speciální případy. Následující kapitola poté nabízí několik matematických oblastí, kde se dají determinanty efektivně využít. Příkladem může být například řešení soustavy lineárních rovnic o n neznámých, určení souhlasně či nesouhlasně orientovaných bází v afinním prostoru či v eukleidovském prostoru při výpočtu objemu různých rovnoběžnostěnů. Jednotlivé kapitoly obsahují jak teoretickou, tak praktickou část, kde praktická část spočívá v prezentaci řešených příkladů týkající se daného tématu. Závěrečná část diplomové práce poskytuje přehled významných matematiků, kteří svým dílem přispěli k rozvoji teorie determinantů.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis “Determinants and Their Applications” partly follows the bachelor thesis “Applications of Matrices in Various Areas of Mathematics” and deals with the practical use of determinants in various areas of mathematics. The first chapter contains some basic terms connected to the elementary algebraic structures and operations, vector spaces, matrices and permutations. The second chapter introduces the term “determinant” and some special types. The next chapter offers some of the areas of mathematics where determinants may be used effectively, e. g. when solving a system of linear equations, to specify approvingly or disapprovingly oriented bases in affine space, or to calculate capacity of some parallelepiped in Euclidean space. Each chapter offers both theoretical and practical part. Practical parts consist in the presentation of solved examples connected to the certain topic. The last chapter of this paper presents an overview of some famous mathematicians who contributed to the development of the theory of determinants.
