A staff of the Probation and Mediation Service of the Czech Republic as a social worker

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je zodpovědět hlavní výzkumnou otázku: „V čem se liší a v čem podobají představy o roli pracovníka PMS jako sociálního pracovníka u probačních pracovníků PMS, mediačních pracovníků PMS a klientů?“. Bakalářská práce je rozdělena do části teoretické a empirické. V teoretické části je představena role sociálního pracovníka a činnost Probační a mediační služby ČR. Konkrétně je tato část zaměřená na popis probační a mediační činnosti a pracovníků a klientů PMS ČR. Nakonec je vysvětlen pojem představy. V empirické části je popsána metodika výzkumu a zjištěná data jsou interpretována pomocí stanovených dílčích výzkumných otázek. Formou polo-strukturovaných rozhovorů jsou zjišťovány představy probačních pracovníků, mediačních pracovníků a klientů PMS o roli pracovníka PMS ČR. Výsledkem výzkumu je mimo jiné zjištění, že pracovník PMS je převážně chápán jako „úředník“, který má klienta kontrolovat, pomoci mu k pozitivní změně v životě či zprostředkovávat řešení konfliktu. Pracovník PMS má také různé povinnosti, mezi které patří např. dodržovat metodiky a limity práce, kontrolovat klienta či ochraňovat společnost.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to answer the main question: "What are differences and similarities about ideas of the role of a PMS staff as a social worker with probation PMS staff, mediation PMS staff and clients PMS?" The thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part presents the role of the social worker and the work of the Probation and Mediation Service of the Czech Republic. Specifically, this part focuses on the description of the probation and mediation activities and the staffs and clients PMS. Finally the concept ideas are explained. In the empirical part the research methodology is described and the obtained data are interpreted by using a set of specific research questions. Ideas of probation staff, mediation staff and clients about the role of a PMS CR staff are collected by form of semi-structured interviews. The one of the result of the research is that the PMS staff is largely seen as an "official", which has to control the client, help him to do a positive change in his live or mediate conflict solutions. The PMS CR staff has also various responsibilities including for example to follow the methodology and work limits, control the client and protect the society.
