Implementation of Starship Technologies robots into the Czech environment

Abstract:

V této bakalářské práci je proveden průzkum autonomních robotů firmy Starship Technologies. Tito roboti poháněni elektrickou energií se specializují na doručování menších a středně velkých předmětů (nejčastěji jídla) na poslední míli. Stávající typy rozvozu, které na poslední míli dominují, nejsou příliš šetrné k životnímu prostředí. Cílem práce je identifikovat silné a slabé stránky doručování pomocí autonomních robotů, srovnat náklady na provoz robotů s lidskými kurýry a zjistit pohled české společnosti na případné uvedení této technologie do České republiky. V práci byla využita data o společnostech dostupná na internetu a vyhotoveno kvantitativní dotazníkové šetření. Přínosem práce je vytvoření podkladů pro možný vstup společnosti na český trh. Z bakalářské práce vyplývá, že provozní náklady na roboty by měly být o poznání nižší oproti nákladům na mzdy kurýrům. Reakce respondentů na ekologický rozvoz prostřednictvím autonomních robotů byly převážně pozitivní. Práce neshledala závažnější důvody, které by znemožňovaly působení firmy Starship Technologies v českém prostředí.

Abstract:

In this bachelor's thesis, a survey of the autonomous robots of the company Starship Technologies is carried out. These electric-powered robots specialize in delivering small and medium-sized items (most often food) over the last mile. The existing types of delivery that dominate the last mile are not very environmentally friendly. The aim of the thesis is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of delivery using autonomous robots, to compare the costs of operating robots with human couriers and to find out the view of Czech society on the possible introduction of this technology in the Czech Republic. The thesis used data about companies available on the Internet and a quantitative questionnaire survey was prepared. The benefit of the work is the creation of documents for the company's possible entry into the Czech market. The bachelor's thesis shows that the operating costs of robots should be considerably lower than the costs of paying couriers. Respondents' reactions to ecological delivery through autonomous robots were mostly positive. The thesis did not find any more serious reasons that would make it impossible for Starship Technologies to operate in the Czech environment.
