Data mining in the retail industry

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je popsat a analyzovat využití data miningu v odvětví maloobchodu a vymezit specifika aplikace data miningu v tomto odvětví. Dalším cílem práce je porovnání metodik pro provádění dolování dat v retailu a následný výběr nejvhodnější metodiky a její doplnění v souladu s potřebami retailu. Na začátku práce je představena problematika data miningu a metodiky pro jeho provádění. Následují kapitoly, popisující jednotlivé etapy dolování dat a jeho specifika z hlediska využití v retailu, a kapitoly obsahující konkrétní úlohy, které mohou být použity při procesu data miningu. Dále je uvedeno pórování metodik pro dolování dat a doplnění vhodné metodiky podle specifik retailu. V závěru práce je proveden souhrn zjištěných specifik a modifikací metodiky.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to describe and analyze the use of data mining in the retail industry and define the specifics of the application of data mining in this sector. Another aim is to compare methodologies for implementing data mining in the retail industry and select the most appropriate methodology and its completion in accordance with the needs of the retail industry. At the beginning of this work is introduced the issue of data mining and the methodologies for its implementation. The next chapters describe the different phases of data mining and its specifics in terms of use in retail, following chapters contain specific tasks that can be used in the process of data mining. Then, comparison of methodologies for data mining is introduced, and the most appropriate methodology is completed according to the specifics of the retail industry. Summary of identified specifics and modifications of methodology is made in the conclusion of the thesis.
