Career of a Preschool Teacher in the Eyes of the Public

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá pohledem laické veřejnosti na profesi učitele mateřské školy. Hlavním cílem práce je analyzovat názory a vytvořit ucelený náhled neučitelské veřejnosti na tuto problematiku. K naplnění cílů byl realizován kvantitativně orientovaný výzkum prostřednictvím dotazníku pro neučitelskou veřejnost. Výzkumný vzorek tvořilo 114 respondentů, z toho 70,3 % žen a 29,7 % mužů. Mezi nejsilnější skupinu se řadili respondenti ve věku 15-35 let z Moravskoslezského a Zlínského kraje a kraje Vysočina. Výsledky šetření ukazují jednotný pozitivní názor laické veřejnosti napříč věkovými kategoriemi na profesi učitele mateřské školy. Laická veřejnost toto povolání považuje za důležité a náročné a také očekává, že se na těchto pozicích budou objevovat vzdělaní lidé a kvalitní učitelé, pro které bude celkový rozvoj dítěte hlavním zájmem. Data nepotvrzují přesvědčení, že mladší generace v porovnání s generaci starší má mnohem otevřenější názory. Ukázal se pravý opak, kdy starší generace byla často otevřenější různým tématům než mladší respondenti.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis examines the general public's view of the kindergarten teaching profession. The main aim of the thesis is to analyse the opinions and to create a comprehensive view of the non-teaching public on this issue. To achieve the objectives, a quantitative research was conducted through a questionnaire for the non-teaching public. The research sample consisted of 114 respondents, of which 70.3 % were female and 29.7 % were male. The strongest group were respondents aged 15-35 years from the MoravianSilesian and Zlín regions and the Vysočina region. The results of the survey show a uniformly positive opinion of the general public across age categories about the kindergarten teaching profession. The lay public considers the profession important and challenging and also expects these positions to be filled by well-educated people and quality teachers for whom the overall development of the child will be a major concern. The data does not support the belief that the younger generation has more open-minded views compared to the older generation. It showed the opposite, with the older generation often being more open to different topics than the younger respondents.
