Network Traffic Analysis: Similarity Search

Abstract:

The goal of this thesis was to check the possibilities of using the similarity search for determining the uniqueness of the network traffic. The comparison is based on the metric space, ie. on the searching distances between two time series which consist of destination ports. The first part of this thesis describes theoretical background which is necessary for understanding the basic principles in the similarity search. Next chapters deal with the implementation of the simple application and series of the tests which should confirm or disprove this possibility.

Abstract:

Práca sa zaoberá možnosťou využitia podobnostného vyhľadávania pre určenie miery jedinečnosti sieťovej komunikácie zvoleného zariadenia. Porovnanie je založené na metrickom priestore, resp. hľadaní vzdialenosti medzi dvomi časovými radmi obsahujúcimi cieľové porty. Prvá časť práce sa venuje teoretickému pozadiu, ktoré je potrebné pre pochopenie základných princípov podobnostného vyhľadávania. Ďalej už v práci nasledujú kapitoly venované implementácii jednoduchej aplikácie a sériám testov, ktoré by mali túto možnosť overiť.
